Designed to push the limits on speed and endurance, the Mahans introduced an all new powerplant to the US Navy. Intended to fight in the vast expanses of the Pacific ocean, the Mahan class were active participants in the opening stages of the war with Japan. These four kits represent the stages of the Mahans throughout the Second World War, beginning with a Pre-War outfit (MPK07) and continuing to an outfit for most of the war (MPK09). Midship Models has also provided two kits that represent the modifications to the class, the Dunlap (MPK08) with the modifications to the weapons, and the Cassin (MPK10) as she was rebuilt following her near total destruction at Pearl Harbour).
